How is your wildflower jewellery made?

The wildflowers grow naturally on my property in Central Australia.

I look after the land and keep invasive buffel grass under control so the native flowers can grow

I hand-pick the flowers when they’re ready

Each flower is air-dried or pressed the old fashioned way in a book!

I place individual flowers and petals by hand in moulds

Each piece is made with at least 2 pours of resin

The resin needs time to cure properly, which can take up to 7 days

I make most of the attachments myself, including the hooks

Because I’m working with real flowers, no two pieces are ever the same

Where do you source the wildflowers?

The wildflowers grow naturally on my family property in Ilparpa which is situated 10km south west of Alice Springs in Central Australia, Northern Territory. Most of the wildflowers are native to Central Australia and you will not find them anywhere else in the world!

When are the wildflowers in bloom?

The wildflower season in Central Australia is generally during the winter months from June - September. We need good Autumn rain around April to enable the seed to germinate in winter. Some wildflowers will be seen all year round, however the winter months are when they are the most spectacular.

Do you make custom pieces?

Yes, I can make custom-made pieces. Contact me direct to discuss your request on lyndal@natureofalice.com.au

What resin do you use?

It is Art Cast Australian-made resin that is UV stable, crystal clear with high gloss finish and super high strength and scratch resistant.

Is every piece of jewellery unique?

Absolutely! Due to the unique, organic nature of the wildflowers, each piece of jewellery is truly one-of-a-kind displaying different shapes, sizes, colours and textures. Minor imperfections or bubbles may appear and are part of the aesthetic appeal of these handmade earrings and not considered a fault.

What are the jewellery findings made from and are they handmade?

All of the earring hooks are handmade from scratch. The gold and silver plated hooks are handcrafted from 20 gauge half hard temper jewellery wire. Perfect for making earrings and keeping their shape.

The sterling silver 925 wire is mined and made in Australia whilst the 14k gold filled wire is made in the USA. 14k gold filled looks, feels and wears like solid gold. It has a 'real' layer of gold which is significantly thicker and more durable than gold plated.

Both sterling silver 925 and 14k gold filled wires are then handmade into the earring hooks.

The surgical stainless steel studs, hoops and huggies are premade and purchased in Australia.

For peace of mind, all of the jewellery findings are nickel & lead free and tarnish resistant.

What are the care instructions for the jewellery?

Store out of direct sunlight to preserve the jewellery. Avoid wear in water and whilst sleeping. Avoid contact with lotions, potions and sprays. Wipe clean with a soft cloth. Like all jewellery it is best to put on last and take off first.
